It was a busy 2024 at Golden Tulip Bakery Palmerston North as a lot of work was done behind the scenes to get our new shop setup and going before year's end. Our new premises located at 59 Broadway Ave had sat vacant for a few years and with the business experiencing growth after updating our Highbury store in 2023 this made for a great opportunity to expand and majorly revamp our Broadway store.
Our old Broadway bakery located at 61 Broadway Ave had been there for 60+ years and was slowly growing too big for its boots and looking more and more dated. Considerations were made whether it would be better to spend a considerable sum on the existing site to update it to a 2025 level or whether to start from scratch and add in 59 Broadway to the lease agreement and move our retail side to next door. With the need for more space and the possibility of having tables and chairs for customers it was agreed that expanding into 59 Broadway Ave was the way to go!
On Friday 6th of December 2024 Golden Tulip Bakery at 61 Broadway closed its door to retail service and the busy weekend of moving everything over to 59 Broadway Ave over the 7th & 8th of December began. On Monday 9th December 2024 the new Golden Tulip Bakery at 59 Broadway Ave was opened with an outstanding turnout from the community breaking sales records and providing a great opportunity for feedback.
We love our new premises at 59 Broadway Ave and the old site is still leased by us to use as storage, refrigeration, and prep space. We see this store as a massive opportunity to continue our Bakery into the future and for another 60+ years. Roly still came over as well after a touch up by Keiths Doll Hospital located locally in Milson, Palmerston North.
